Lesbian Film Oscar Nomination
Congratulations to Freeheld: The Laurel Hester Story which was nominated for best short documentary, the film tells the tale of the titular Laurel Hester, a terminally ill New Jersey copper who fought to transfer her pension to her lesbian lover.
What many probably don't know is that bestselling author Patricia Cornwell is "Freeheld"'s largest donor, contributing over $150,000 so that the film could continue along the Oscar qualifying circuit. The community should be proud of her efforts to support such worthwhile causes!
